L ’ vinegar takes first place in the ranking of agricultural excellence ’ Qualivita
All ’ balsamic vinegar of Modena l ’ Oscar in the top 15 of Italian PDO and PGI.
31 January 2012: L ’ important award assigned by Qualivita, Ministry of agriculture, in the presence of Minister Catania. L ’ balsamic vinegar of Modena exceeds denominations like Grana Padano, Parmigiano-Reggiano and Pecorino Romano.
With just over two years of certification behind, that is, after the recognition of the IGP in July 2009, l ’ balsamic vinegar of Modena will square by force at the top of the note ‘ Top 15′ of Qualivita – the foundation that deals with studies and Italian and European food promotion on geographical indications – discussed this morning at the Mipaaf in the presence of Minister Mario Catania on the occasion of the presentation of the report 2011 the Italian agrifood products DOP, PGI, STG curated by Qualivita and Ismea.
“The usurpation, but counterfeiting and imitation – commented the Minister of agricultural food and forestry policies Mario Catania – It is a phenomenon fed by the quality and success in the world of agri-food products Made in italy. One of the first concerns of the Government is to fight these phenomena, which unfortunately does not happen only at international level but also national. And’ studying a Bill to that effect”.
The product stands out for the excellent economic performance (243 million all source ’, 405 millions to consumption) but mainly because of the large amount of export volumes ( 195 million in revenue from export), who are the typical Italian product with greater export quota (equal to 92% volumes).
L ’ balsamic vinegar of Modena, authentic banner of Made in Italy, After the European recognition continued to enjoy positive results, making Italian Vinegars in compartment protected name pounce – that in addition to the PGI comprises the two PDO traditional balsamic ‘’ of Modena and Reggio Emilia – in fourth place in the ranking of PDO and PGI turnover all ’ origin of ISMEA.

For these reasons the Consortium reaffirms l ’ importance that they continue, and indeed intensify, measures to protect designations of all Institutions, in cooperation with authorities in other European countries: a success of these actions can only strengthen l ’ economy of our territory and of the sectors related to it.
L ’ balsamic vinegar over the course of 2011 holds a volume of product certificate of 93 million litres, and early 2012 – Despite a generalized crisis in food consumption – shows good consumption.
